From Aerial Photography to Digital Models: Besomar Develops an Innovative Solution with EU Support
Ukrainian company Besomar, in collaboration with Estonian technology company Farsight Vision, is developing an integrated solution for aerial photography, mapping, and digital infrastructure monitoring as part of the European ECDI Civil Drones Innovative Programme.
In 2026, Besomar joined the European Cluster for Drone Innovation (ECDI) programme, which aims to support technological innovation in civil unmanned aerial systems and enhance their potential in the European market.
The joint project involves integrating Besomar’s UAV platform with Farsight Vision’s geospatial data processing technologies. Its objective is to develop a comprehensive technological solution that combines aerial photography, image processing, and the generation of digital terrain models for further analysis.
Besomar 3210 FV: From Flight to Results
For practical photogrammetric testing, Besomar uses the Besomar 3210 FV (“Photolit”), a specialized configuration of the Besomar 3210 UAV platform designed for aerial photography and mapping applications.
As part of the collaboration, Besomar is responsible for the UAV platform, its technical adaptation, flight operations, and the collection of raw data.
Farsight Vision provides technologies for processing the collected data, including the generation of orthomosaics, digital terrain models, and tools for spatial analysis.
The integration of these technologies creates opportunities for the use of unmanned aerial systems in civilian applications, including:
- monitoring infrastructure facilities;
- mapping geographic areas
- assessing the condition of land plots and natural resources;
- detecting changes in landscapes and built-up areas;
- planning restoration and reconstruction activities.
Initial Results of Field Trials
On August 12, 2026, during a test mission, the unmanned platform Besomar 3210 FV conducted aerial photography of an area approximately 2.9 km² in size.
On August 12, 2026, during a test mission, the Besomar 3210 FV UAV conducted aerial photography of an area covering approximately 2.9 km².
The collected images were processed using Farsight Vision technologies. The result was the creation of an orthophoto map of the studied area.
The tests allowed for the verification of the basic technological process — from flight planning and the collection of aerial photographs to their processing and the production of geospatial products.
These results represent an important milestone in the verification of the integrated solution and the basis for its further technological validation.
European Collaboration and Future Development
The project is being implemented within the framework of the ECDI Civil Drones Innovative Programme, which supports innovative developments by European companies in the field of civil drone technologies.
